This advanced mobile suit was created by a resistance group at the L1 colony cluster for the sole purpose of battling Oz. The Wing Gundam can transform into a winged "bird mode" superior to any conventional fighter plane; in this form, it can survive re-entry and fly in Earth's atmosphere. Its primary weapon is the buster rifle, an immensely powerful beam weapon which can be fired only three times before its energy supply must be recharged. For close-range combat, the Wing Gundam relies on its shoulder-mounted machine cannons and the beam sabers stored in its shield.

This black, scythe-toting Gundam was created near the L2 colony cluster by the Sweeper Group salvage organization. The aptly-named Deathscythe is equipped with hyper jammers that conceal it from cameras and radar, allowing this Gundam to ambush enemy mobile suits and strike them down with one blow from its mighty beam scythe. Its buster shield also emits an energy blade, and can even be launched at nearby foes. Since the Gundam Deathscythe relies on short-range weapons, it's designed to dash towards its targets at high speed.

The Gundam Heavyarms was created by resistance fighters at the L3 colony cluster. Designed for long-range attacks, this Gundam is packed with guns and missiles from head to foot. The Heavyarms's primary weapon is the lethal beam gatling worn over its left hand, supplemented by homing missiles in its shoulders, micro missiles on its legs, and gatling guns concealed inside its chest. When it's exhausted its ammunition, the Heavyarms must fall back on the small knife mounted on its right forearm.

The Gundam Sandrock was created at the L4 colony cluster, using the resources of the wealthy Winner family. This powerful, heavily-armored Gundam is designed for hand-to-hand combat, and is particularly well-suited to desert conditions. Its main weapons are the curved, heat-radiating blades of its heat shotels; the Sandrock is strong enough to wield one of these huge blades with a single hand, or strike simultaneously with both. The Sandrock can mount its backpack, shield, and both heat shotels on its forearm to perform a deadly pincer attack called the "cross crusher."

Created by the reistance fighters of the L5 colony cluster, this Gundam's name is derived from the Chinese phrase "god dragon." The Shenlong Gundam's specialty is close-quarters fighting, using its spear-like beam glaive and the extendable "dragon fang" claw built into its right arm. The muzzle of the dragon fang also contains a pair of medium-range flamethrowers; the Shenlong can grasp an enemy mobile suit with its claw, then activate these flamethrowers to perform the scorching "dragon fang fire" attack.

It can transform into a "neo bird mode," and is armed with a twin buster rifle more than twice as powerful as that of the Wing Gundam. An improved version of the original Gundam Deathscythe, adapted for space combat. The Deathscythe H's "active cloak" uses the same defensive technology as the Mercurius's planet defensors, and doubles as a manuevering system; when opened, it bears an intimidating resemblance to a devil's wings. The Deathscythe's hyper jammers and beam scythe have also been upgraded for its new incarnation.

As suggested by its name, which is derived from the Chinese phrase "two-headed dragon," this improved version of the Shenlong Gundam is equipped with an extendable dragon fang in each arm. Using both claws and their flamethrowers, the Altron Gundam can perform a lethal "twin dragon fang fire" attack. It's also armed with a twin beam trident, and a pair of turret-mounted beam cannons based on the Vayeate's main weapon. Heero Yuy is one of the most mysterious of the five Gundam pilots. His code name is that of the leader of the space colonies. His real name is still unknown. Heero was trained as a child, and he is claimed to be the perfect soldier. This contributes to his ruthlessness. He is quiet and works behind the scenes. He is an expert in unarmed combat, mobile suit combat, explosives and computer hacking. Heero was sent by the L1 Colony to the Earth to fight against OZ. During the Gundam Wing series, we see he becomes more vocal and we discover more of Heero's personality and abilities.

Duo Maxwell was sent to the Earth by an organization called the Sweeper Group against OZ. In his childhood, Duo stole money and clothes to stay alive. Duo was an orphan who was taken in by a nun of the Maxwell church in the L2 colony. The church was destroyed by OZ and Duo was homeless once again. Duo believes in Shinigami (the God of death), and swears to take vengance of what happened to Maxwell church. Duo is later taken in by Professor G. Even though Duo had a troublesome childhood, he maintains a content and happy-go-lucky personality. When a battle commences, Duo takes charge in his Gundam and leaves a trail of destruction. The battle field is the place where Duo can unleash his anger.

Trowa Barton is another very mysterious character in the series Gunam Wing. He was sent to the Earth in his Gundam Heavyarms. His true name is still unknown. In Endless Waltz we find out he has no name. His past is also unknown. The farthest we can trace back is A.C. 190. Trowa is 10 years old and is in a Leo battling more mobile suits. He is very quiet and spent his time in a circus. In the circus, he is a clown and an acrobat. Trowa displays skills of a soldier far beyond what you would expect from a 15 year old boy. His tactical and explosive skills make him a great pilot for his Gundam Heavyarms. In the series, we see Trowa open up and communicate more often.

Quatre Raberba Winner is the only son and the only heir to the wealthy Winner family. Quatre has 29 older sisters and his mother died after giving birth to him. When Quatre grew older, he disobayed his father and left the L4 Colony and went to the Earth to fight against OZ. With the pain of knowing his mother died to give birth to him, Quatre portrays characteristics very different to mobil suit pilots. Quatre is the most caring and gentle of the five Gundam pilots. With the help of the Maganac Corp, Quatre has a lot of help when he is out numbered. During the series, Quatre's father died because he refused to co-operate with OZ. Like his father, Quatre stands to protect his strong beliefs.

Chang Wufei is a descendant of a legendary Chinese clan. He was sent to Earth to fight against OZ. He feels strongly about his beliefs and lives his life with honor. He chooses to fight his battles alone. He feels highly of himself. This contributes to how he reacts when he loses a battle. Wufei is often criticized for being unkind towards women. I believe he feels that women should not fight battles. Before the Gundam Wing series, Wufei was living in the colonies with his wife. OZ attacked the colony and Wufei's wife went out to battle the OZ mobile suits. She called herself Nataku (a hero of Chinese mythology). She died in battle. As you watch the Gundam Wing series, you notice Wufei call his gundam Nataku.

Relena was once the daughter of of the Earth Alliance's vice minister for foreign affairs. He was assassinated and before he passed on, he told Relena he was not her father. Instead of Relena Darlian, her real name was Relena Peacecraft. Relena was really part of the Peacecraft family who includes Zechs Merquise/Milliardo Peacecraft. The assassination forced Relena to take a step. She tries to convice officials to her beliefs of total pacifism. She believes this is the way that leads to true peace. As the series develops, she is introduced to the five Gundam pilots. She seems to fancy the pilot Heero Yuy. She acts strangly when she thinks of him. She often screams out his name, and asks Heero to kill her. Even though she may act odd, her ideals of total pacifism may be the path of peace.
